Come mid-February, Adelaide turns into a festive utopia, with comedians, performers, dancers and show-goers filling a million minds. And every city street is activated with events and colourful personalities.

And while many of us wait all year for this month-long fun fiasco, we also crave for a little peace and quiet in there somewhere. Take a little trip up the hill and you’ll find it.

Country chill, then back to March Madness

There are plenty of things to do in Adelaide Hills that’ll be a welcome change from the creative chaos in the city.

Visit some of the Adelaide Hills Wineries – the region is well-known for producing wines like you’ve never tasted before and with over 60 different wineries to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

For food, visit Beerenberg Farm for their Intimate Insider’s Experience. It’s the hills’ most iconic strawberry farm and during this trip, you’ll peruse a part of the farm that’s not open to the public, hearing interesting stories while sharing a generous grazing platter of local produce.

The Garden of Unearthly Delights isn’t the only spot to go to celebrate art and all its quirks. Head to the Open Studio and Gallery to meet local creators in the Hills. If you simply can’t get enough of Fringe time, there’s plenty of pop-up events in the Hills, too. The Matthew Symons and Mariana Mezic Fringe Exhibition is one example. This show is put on by a husband and wife duo who invite you to immerse yourself in colour and energy, with Hills-inspired landscape photographs and portrait paintings.

Bringing the kids along? Here’s another event you might be interested in.

While there’s plenty of places to visit in Adelaide Hills, try to relax and take a deep breath of that fresh, country air. This is the time to unwind and kick back into Hills mode, without packing a schedule. You need a respite from your full Fringe calendar, remember?

Don’t just come up for the day. Make a weekend of it and stay with us. Whether you’re a couple, family or group of friends, we’ve got something to suit everyone – bring your caravan, pitch a tent or relax back in one of our Lakeview Units.
